September, 1888. London is in the grip of the Whitechapel murders. Eddy Nichols, the eldest son of the first acknowledged victim, has come to Whitechapel looking for answers. What he finds instead is a city in panic and a collection of people who are far more interested in profiting from the crimes than solving them: an American detective hungry for fame, a tabloid publisher willing to publish anything, a psychiatrist pushing methods that do not bear scrutiny, and a journalist who is barely holding themselves together. A mystery about who benefits from unsolved horror.
