Sylvanas Windrunner, the fallen leader of the Horde, has torn open the veil between Azeroth and the realm of the dead, setting off events that threaten to upend the cosmic balance between life and death. Players who venture into the fabled Shadowlands find the realms of the dead in turmoil: where departed souls were once delivered to a realm suited to the lives they led, now every soul is funneled into the Maw, where the most wicked are condemned to suffer for eternity.
