Sister Madeline traps a boy named William to use him in a ritual she believes will bring her dead daughter Elisa back to life. The ritual does not go as planned — William, working with what the garden provides, turns the Mutant Chickens back to normal, who then dislodge a cross from the attic that falls into Madeline's room. A demon named Nazrat, drawn by her crying, arrives and offers a deal: follow his rules for forty years — stay in the school, pray to him, be a good mother — and she can have a child again. She accepts. What she gets is not what she imagined. An origins story for Evil Nun that reframes the entire series mythology.
