The story is set in the late Edo period. After the Black Ships arrived, the crackdown for anything foreign-related by the extremists have gotten worse, even within the Capital. One day, the protagonist gets in trouble when she drops a photo related to foreign culture.
After a drifter accuses her of being a traitor to the country, she nearly gets struck down until “he” appears and saves her.
