Chase, a young otter who grew up in the town of Echo, returns during spring break to document a historical event from the 1870s for a school project. Joined by five childhood friends for a reunion, he quickly finds that their memories of Echo were more flattering than accurate. Old painful secrets surface and long-buried rifts crack open between the group. Chase also begins to suspect that Echo itself has its own secrets — that the strange memories he always blamed on an overactive childhood imagination may not have been imagined at all. Then something is triggered that turns those fears into something far more tangible and dangerous.
