Wario is reading the newspaper on an ordinary morning when an article catches his eye: a mysterious pyramid discovered deep in the jungle, connected to the legend of Princess Shokora, the pyramid's ruler who was cursed by the money-obsessed Golden Diva. Wario skips his mid-morning nap, gets in the Wario Car, and drives directly to the pyramid. Inside, he spots a black cat and chases it. The chase ends with Wario falling off a precipice and landing inside the pyramid with no obvious way out.
