Listen to the Wind

The Ming dynasty's Jiajing era is marked by rampant government corruption and mismanagement of the country's borders, which has given Japanese pirates an opportunity to attack the southeastern coast. The player's main character has been living in the mountains for years and is called to assist the soldiers fighting back against the incursion. As the campaign proceeds, the pirate invasion turns out to be more complicated than it appears — there is a hand behind it that belongs to someone in the government. Historical figures including Qi Jiguang, Wang Zhi, Xu Hai, and Matsura Takanobu appear as the story's scope expands. The player chooses at the end whether to uncover who is pulling the strings or to return to the mountains once the immediate obligation is fulfilled.
