Accumulated star coins and snow coins purchase character upgrades, with each character offering different effects depending on their current level. Advancing the plot in each level requires meeting specific conditions, which means the player must find an approach that satisfies those conditions without losing so many coins that the run becomes unrecoverable. When a level creates a dead end, replaying earlier levels to build up coin reserves and raise character levels is the solution.
