Private Investigator Hugo Laurent has barely settled into paperwork when a young woman arrives in his office, clearly disturbed, asking him to investigate a potential threat to her grandfather's safety. She has brought a letter addressed to the old man — written in red, carrying a warning that reads like a promise made by someone from the deep past.
