A notary assistant was dispatched to handle a matter related to the estate of the recently deceased Joseph Hall, whose son had insisted on renouncing all claim to his father's house. What followed is recorded in a letter — a haunting account of events inside that house which led the assistant to resign their position immediately after leaving it.
