1896. Louisiana is being consumed by something called the Origin — a force that surfaced from beneath the earth and produces monsters that kill people and harvest their souls. The US Army could not stop it and has retreated, leaving the state in chaos. The survivors who stayed organized themselves into factions, each claiming territory and trying to impose order according to their own vision. Some of these factions want to understand and control the Origin. Others simply want to use it as a weapon. You are a member of one of the gangs — caught in the middle of this, and trying to find out what the Origin actually is and what happens when it ends up in human hands.
