An empire has expanded into neighboring territories, destabilizing several countries in the process and leaving considerable bloodshed in its wake. Then the empire's armies crossed into something beyond the borders of the known world — a place that no one had mapped, and which came at a cost that the empire was not prepared to pay. The horrors of that unknown place are not contained to it. What they have set in motion is beginning to cross back into the known world, and no great power — including the empire that opened the door — is ready for what is coming through.
