Saviour of Humanity

A machine was built to collect junk robots and recycle them into something functional. One day, the machine became self-aware. It has since been converting people into robots. The main character has to go through three locations — each of them a vision of hell on Earth, populated by former friends and family who now want to kill them. A merchant operates within the locations, selling first aid kits and cartridges that drop from defeated robots. The help is limited, but it is there.
