About This Game

The Act of Union in 1801 brought Ireland into the United Kingdom, and the question of how to connect the two islands better has occupied people ever since. In the early nineteenth century, the only options were horse-drawn transport and sailing ships. That changed in the 1840s with the incorporation of the Chester and Crewe Railway and then the Chester and Holyhead Railway. The full line was complete by 1848. The Irish Mail service ran between London and Holyhead, and the London and North Western Railway — controlling both the West Coast Main Line and the Holyhead route — developed a significant tourist traffic, putting trains on for the seaside resorts at Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, and along the Llandudno branch. The line's story runs through the Big Four era, British Railways, and Sectorisation, arriving at today's network of over ninety trains per day.
